 follow the plan: Beckara M.

write down everything you consume . Test your blood sugar the eat to your meter way of testing and that will show you specifically how what you are consuming is impacting your blood sugar . Medications can only do so much. What you eat has the biggest impact. You must eliminate ALL grains : corn, rice, wheat, oats, bran, barley, rye, quinoa, couscous etc, no potatoes, all legumes ( beans, soy) peanuts are also a legume not a nut . You can have a little peanut butter if you must but almond butter would be a better choice . No fruit as fruit is natures candy. When you do get your blood sugar consistently around 100 you can test 1/4 cup of berries and see how they impact you . No cows milk as it is full of sugar . No bad oils . All of the non starchy carbohydrates, milk options, oil options and more are listed on the food list located in the announcement section.

Just a few observations from today’s posts.
Not everyone can follow this WOE, and that’s OK. There are many different ways to tackle this disease. Not everyone has to agree with these methods, but if we agree to learn and follow this WOE, then we should respect the people who are here trying to help. If you find this WOE doesn’t work for you, then leave and hopefully you can find something that does work for you.
Calling people out as “being rude” because they try to correct you is not cool. The group here is strict. There are strict lists that we follow. We don’t waver. That’s why it works. I’m proof. I started following this WOE in February 2020. I went from 10.7 A1C to 5.2 in 3 months. Lost 35 lbs and still at that weight loss. A1C is still around 5.2. I’ve been off all diabetic medication since late February of 2020. It works for me. It works for many people in here. We need to correct people when they give inaccurate information pertaining to our WOE.
When I first started here, I read and learned everything that I could about this WOE. I think it would be a disservice to new members reading a post that have ingredients and food items that are not compliant and therefore being mislead.
I myself, did my homework and confirmed their teachings with “outside information”. These moderators and senior members know what they’re talking about.
They definitely changed my life for the better

Yesterday marked my 1 yr diabetes journey. I was diagnosed 1 yr ago with an A1C of 7.8 and 240lbs. Today my A1C is 4.8 and my weight is 165lbs. This WOE works. I have not even been tempted to have a cheat day. Its just not worth it. You will see results sticking to this lifestyle.

Back in September of last year 2020 I was diagnosed with Type 2 after being hospitalized with a blood sugar of over 500. I remember feeling defeated, upset and lost. Not knowing what to do until my girlfriend suggested I look for groups on fb for support. I found this group and after talking to my Dr who advised against a lchf diet. I decided to listen to ppl who have actually gone through this and followed the WOE strictly. Today I got my results back from my Dr and the look of amazement on his face made the last few months of strict dieting worth it. He couldn’t believe how low my A1c is now compared to September. He said usually patients drop 1-2% in their A1c but I almost halved mine. Down from 10 to 5.6. He even took me off metformin which is the best news I’ve had in a while. I hated the side effects of it. But I shared this to say thank you and I’ve been a silent creeper for the last few months but I have really tried to take in as much information as possible.

Story from Matthew S. Type 2 Diabetes Support group member

first I was on board but thank the lord I found this group before I started doing that. But he said I don’t want you to die young but you will if you don’t change your life starting now and after he said those words I requested a leave of absence from work about 2 weeks and I followed this WOE LOW CARB HIGH NATURAL FAT DIET and I’m telling you I never felt better! My numbers were always 80-105 around 2 months on this woe and my first checkup at the doctors was at exactly one month to see what was going on well outta thousands and thousands and thousands I had the best improvement of health he has ever seen my A1C went down 10.7 to 7.7 in one month!!!!! The beginning of this WOE your numbers won’t be perfect but will be lower however I was so dedicated to this WOE working out everyday walking at least 10,000 steps dojng hard workouts and eating 100% compliant made it possible to get 80-105 readings. Now I’ve heard from many people here I am a beacon of hope for them bc I’m 20 yrs old and type 2 diabetic but I take this as a blessing in disguise bc honeslty my diet was the worst anyone has ever seen! But I am here to tell you this WOE this group is 100% the best thing ever bc we will live a happy long life controlling this awful awful disease with this WOE and we all are here all 31,700 of us and possibly more helping all of us achieve a no meds or insulin and a good optimal A1C and I hope this helps some people I really do. When I go back sept 10 to the doctors I could have gone from a 10.7 to 4.6-5.0 a1c thank you for reading stay strong

I went in for surgery on March 14th of this year and found out I am a diabetic. My glucose was 400 and my a1c was 15. I have another surgery coming up so we did another a1c test on Friday to see where I am at. My a1c is now 7.9! I can't believe it! I have worked so hard, followed the food list and not cheated. My nurse at my primary dr's told me to eat up to 50 carbs per meal and to eat wheat bread. I came home, joined this group and the recipe group just looking for a little support and guidance. I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH MORE FROM ALL OF YOU AND ESPECIALLY THE ADMINS! THANK YOU! My nurse said if I keep going at this rate, I could be off insulin by the end of this year. Thank you so much for all the recipes and guidance...you have saved my life!

Monday, May 6, 2019

It's been a challenging few days. My nephew's graduation party was Saturday at lunch time. The only thing they had that I could eat was the pulled pork. Everything else was a carb-a-palooza, so I stuck to the pork and water. That night we had a cookout at my sister's house. I had a burger and some baby spinach. Then today a woman brought an Edible Arrangements thing into the office to thank me for assisting with the arrangements for her mother's funeral (I'm the office manager at a church). A nice gesture, but I passed them along to everyone else in the office. My fasting blood sugar was 81 this morning, so this way of eating is clearly working, and I'm not going to quit! LCHF for life!
Most frustrating thing people keep saying to me when I decline their carb and sugar loaded food is, "oh, come on, just a little won't hurt you"! Then they proceed to shove the food in front of my face. Um, sorry but this WOE is working for me and I'm not letting them screw it up for me. My will power is stronger than their peer pressure.

I feel better than I have in years! Thank you to everyone in this group who has and is helping me along the way. You're all great and you're helping to save my life! I suffer from MS, fibromyalgia, DDD, DJD and neuropathy and of course T2 diabetes and I seriously felt miserable & overwhelmed until I found this group. Now that my glucose is in the normal range all of my other illnesses seem to not have as many flare ups and I truly feel so much better!

If your  medication is no longer working like it used to it is probably  because you have added to your insulin resistance by eating potatoes, fruit and whole grains as you stated your dr recommended. No amount of medication will work for very long if you don't cut those high carb foods that add to your insulin resistance and cause the disease to progress.
That's why we have suggested to you to follow our healthy low carb food list. Sheila G

I wanted to share some positive results in hope that it will provide a little encouragement to folks new to this WOE.
Back in February, my A1c was 10.7 My doctor put me on Lantus insulin, with dosage increasing weekly for 2 months. That scared me. They also added more Metformin to my daily meds.
When I got home from the doctor, I joined this group. I started following this way of eating. I got rid of the carbs throughout the house. EVERYTHING that was off plan. I put it all on the table. Frozen stuff, stuff from the pantry and fridge. Gave it away. Returned it to the store (in some instances). Threw out stuff that was old.
Fast forward to this week.... and my A1c was 5.4. I can't say how happy I am. I feel vindicated. This WOE is totally worth it. Eating to my meter is just how things work now.

35 mins
I got my lab results today. Boy was I shocked! My A1C dropped from 9.2 to 7.2. The reason I was so shocked? I was on steroids for 15 days the later part of Jan.to around the second week of Feb. B.S. running 435 and 325 to 365. So I expected a jump in my A1C. I've been eating LCHF since Jan. 28 th but figured the steroids and the numbers I was seeing there was NO way it would be down! My Good Cholesterol and bad cholesterol were all way down. My triglycerides were also down. My Dr. said he was very happy with my lab results! My cholesterol and triglycerides were all high last time. This time they are only half the normal range! This is one very happy lady! And I know my A1C will be even lower in 3 months!

I love this group and eating lchf. Eating like the Dr said put my bs at 486 in 2016. I had dizziness, palpitations, terrible pain in my limbs, couldn't think, thought I was getting dementia. I was eating a whole food plant based diet for decades. Now I eat to my meter with 20 carbs a day or less. I make delicious meals from the food list I have. My fasting number is now consistently 100 and I don't spike because I know what to eat. I never ate fast food, sweets or junk so I don't miss them. I did miss fruit but it spikes me very badly so oh well. No carb is worth losing my sight, my limbs, or my kidneys. My IBS, neuropathy, dizziness, palpitations have all disappeared. I lost 35 pounds and I feel great. I hope I can encourage others.

Patricia M.s menu for a day

BREAKFAST:
- 2-3 eggs cooked in butter (scrambled or omelette), with cheese plus a couple of low-carb veggies thrown in or on the side (could be spinach, mushrooms, peppers, onion, tomatoes, etc.). Sometimes I'll add ham to the eggs or have bacon or sliced avocado on the side.
- Baked egg casserole with similar ingredients as above, served with a dollop of sour cream on top. Sometimes I add dill or other herb to the sour cream.
- 2 almond flour muffins which I have made in a variety of flavors. I will add the recipe link in the comments.
- On weekends I may make LCHF pancakes, served with a few berries and sugar-free whipped cream or sugar-free syrup. But I haven't found a favorite recipe for pancakes yet, so I'm still experimenting.
- Breakfast always includes a cup of coffee with Truvia and some heavy whipping cream (HWC).
LUNCH:
- 4-5 deli meat and cheese roll-ups with Duke's mayo (or cream cheese for salami). Sometimes I put a pepper strip inside and/or wrap it in romaine leaves. Maybe a salad or veggie on the side - e.g., pepper strips or celery with cream cheese, a few olives or dill pickle spears, coleslaw made with Duke's mayo and Truvia. Or maybe a few almonds, walnuts or pecans.
- Homemade soup made with chicken broth or tomatoes and whatever food I have left in the refrigerator at the end of the week, and an almond flour muffin. My favorite soup so far has been tomato/roasted pepper/shrimp bisque (my own made-up recipe).
- Dinner leftovers (see DINNER, below).
- I pretty much only drink water with lunch, or an iced tea with sweetener.
DINNER:
- Steak sauteed in butter or olive oil. Plain or with onions and/or mushrooms. Sometimes I turn the mushrooms into a sauce with a little chicken broth, spices and HWC or cream cheese. Veggie on the side - broccoli, cauliflower (sometimes riced or mashed), asparagus, green beans or zucchini. Plenty of butter on the veggies, and sometimes a pat of butter on the steak, too.
- Baked or sauteed pork chop or chicken "breaded" with pork rinds, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt & pepper. (Dredged in a beaten egg first, then coated with the 'breading.') Sometimes I top the chicken with tomato sauce and mozzarella. Salad or veggies on the side, as above. If I make the chicken Italian-style, I may serve with zucchini noodles or spaghetti squash. Or not.
- Fish - baked, broiled or grilled in foil, with olive oil and/or butter, lemon and maybe some capers. I make dill sauce with mayo, olive oil, lemon and dill to serve at the table. Salad or veggies on the side, or maybe zucchini noodles with homemade Alfredo sauce.
- Shrimp scampi on spaghetti squash and a spinach salad.
- Water, flavored soda water, iced tea, or occasionally a glass of wine if I can "afford" the 4 grams of carbs that day.
- Occasionally a small dessert - a few berries with sugar-free whipped cream, 85% chocolate square, or LCHF pudding or cheesecake. Again, only if I can afford the extra carbs that day and no more than once or twice a week.
I hope that's helpful to some of you. And I recognize that I am still learning, so questions and constructive criticism are invited!
